How To Breath Without Air

As requested:

There once lived a very beautiful girl who fell in love with a very handsome boy.

To her, he was the entire world and the stars beyond. And soon enough, the girl started to need the boy;

like he was the air she breathed.

 For a time they were happy.

But, as fate had it, the boy fell in love with another and deserted the beautiful girl to a life of loneliness. And with him;

 took the air she breathed.

She would have surely died if not for the fact that she was very wise and somehow;

learned how to live without air.

The beautiful girl wandered the world, with her sick heart pleading for death to take her to the next life.

Without the air she needed.

The Gods in heaven took pity of the girl and decided because of her intellect and immortal body, they would make her a god.

The god of broken hearts.

Every time a mortal had a broken heart, it would be sent to her to keep safe until the day that It could heal.

And so it was, that one day a heart so badly broken was sent to her. It was shattered into the smallest of pieces and was beyond repair.

 The goddess called upon the mortal to whom the heart belonged and standing in front of her was her boy.
It seemed that the girl that the boy had left the goddess for had, in turn, left him for another and with her;

took the air that he breathed.

But you see, the boy was not as wise and could not learn to live without air.

He had died.

The Goddess decided to kept his heart pieces and shared them among other mortal’s hearts so that when they did heal, they would be stronger and wiser than before.

The Death of Beauty

This is for Stefan, he requested more of my writting. I am not too sure I like this one but if you have any feedback I’d be glad to hear it.

There once was a young man who was infatuated with beauty. Nothing ever seemed as important to him as something that was beautiful whether it be art, music, human or beast. So strong was the young man’s love of beauty that most things in his world now appeared dull and lifeless. Sunrises had lost their colour, art seemed imperfect and flawed and music had become repetitive. He rarely could find anything worth loving anymore.

As it was, the young man was himself quite beautiful and was approached by numerous young ladies who intended to win his heart. One young lady in particular, who was not so aesthetically beautiful but had a warm and caring heart, tried to court the young man but he was vain and unimpressed as he always was with the world and scorned her advances. The young lady was distraught and vanished in her embarrassment.

That night, bored of the colourless and monotony of life the boy ventured to a cove by the sea that he enjoyed to visit and find things of beauty. As he sat and looked out over the ocean a voice slowly could be heard. At first it started low but then grew and grew until the sounds of the waves were washed away in its melody. The wordless song rose in crystal clear perfection that made the young man feel as if it would burn a hole in his soul. On and on it went, tempting his senses until he couldn’t stand it any longer and he screamed out:

‘Please, tell me how to find you. I must be with you!’

‘I won’t’ The voice replied ‘For I am ugly and shouldn’t be seen by anyone.’

‘How can someone that sings as beautifully as you be ugly? I must have you.’ The man called back longingly.

The only reply he got was the bitter sweet melody rise up again. The song rose so high and sweet he could almost taste the notes on his tongue and feel its energy on his fingertips. So the young man, tortured by his desire and lust for the beautiful voice, followed the sound outside of the cove and found a rocky cliff with the song coming from above. Spurred on by his madness he braved the wind and waves and climbed up and up to find his love. He seemed to climb forever, like he was trying to touch heaven but finally he held fast the last piece of rock and heaved himself onto the cliff above and there before him stood a familiar face.

It was the young lady he had not found beautiful and dismissed. She stood atop a rock singing heartbroken melodies to the sea. The young man fell to his knees with all the weight of remorse upon his shoulders. At the sight of him the young lady let out one single, long, haunting note that held in the air. All of the young lady’s torment and heartbreak stabbed at the man’s ears like daggers and poured down his throat like liquid fire. He scrambled to free himself of the sound, hitting his head in pain and gasping for water. Suddenly the man felt weightlessness as he fell from the cliff but the pain followed him. His last thought was that he could think of nothing more beautiful than the escape of death and with that, fell to the rocks by the sea.
